Clare-Reeds ReflectingPROMISE

Our aim is to ensure you have the most enjoyable holiday possible, whether hiking, driving, or just being; standing still in Ireland. We understand the importance of vacation time away from it all and we think it should be the best holiday it can possibly be – it’s our business promise. Our knowledge of back road Ireland is extensive, our attention to logistics impeccable. With Tailor-Made Tours, you are on your way to discovering Ireland.

EXPECTATIONS

Quiet villages, small laneways, beautiful scenery, and colourful flora and fauna. At the end of each day, Irish hospitality in our guesthouses and hostelries. This is the Ireland we would like you to experience. Ireland was incredibly busy in 2023 with stay-cationers, the Irish experiencing Ireland. There is always room for walkers!

WHY IRELAND?Donegal-Bluestack Way-Clady Way

Our country is steeped in history and story. In every townland, in name and place, there is a story; of people, place, happen-chance or pure imagination and legend. Our geography sitting on the north western edge of the European landmass, also made us different. The first settlers some 5000 years ago worked hard to get here! And when they came, they could only imagine what lay to the west where the sun disappeared. Walk here! Feel the Celtic spirit, the wild islands, the cultural Ireland famed far and wide. Find your ancestral feet, touch the stones they erected in our infinite structures; forts, circles, rows, cashels, churches & cillíns. Tread the ancient paths, the Pilgrim Ways, tracks of labour, love, funeral song, trails to emigration, travel and knowledge.

SELF GUIDED/INDEPENDENT WALKERS

On a self-guided tour, daily walks range from 10 to 25km per day (4-8 hours). You can walk alone, in a pair or with a group of friends. With our colour Ordnance Survey maps to cover your route, you will have no problem finding your way. You choose when to go, and for how long. We have 8 areas to choose from and it is easy to combine two routes to make a longer walking holiday. We will book your accommodations, your luggage transfers and all you have to do is walk. Take a flask, a sandwich and your camera.

WALKING AND YOU

Whatever your age, experience or fitness level there is a walking holiday to suit. Each tour is graded to give you an idea of how strenuous they are. Tougher tours can be broken up to shorter days on some routes, or by taking rest days. For the not so keen walker, we tailor tours that can be a mixture of walking, driving, biking – whatever itinerary you want, we can put it together.

For the not so keen walker and the avid walker travelling together; just ask us – we have managed tours for every combination of individuals!

DRIVING

We use our extensive knowledge of rural Ireland to tailor a tour to your liking. You may wish to do some hiking, some short walks, or base yourself in one location for a few nights for a deeper exploration. Or you may just want a quick look at the countryside. Whatever your ideas, we can turn them into a plan. We will customise a price for your budget.
